Nina Hamnett Queen of Bohemia – One Woman Show

To extend the celebrations of International Women’s Day 2018, NINA, Queen of Bohemia, is bringing theatre to Southampton City Art Gallery.

This is an exhilarating show by playwright and actor Vanessa Rosenthal.

The show will tell Nina’s story:

  • Who was she?
  • When and why did she paint Horace Brodsky’s portrait? (Part of the city’s collection, this is currently on display in the Gallery to accompany the performance)
  • Where was she when she counted Sickert, Pissarro, Epstein, Picasso and Modigliani among her friends and romances?

Recognised as both flamboyant and unpredictable, Nina’s life saw her journey from being celebrated to being overlooked. In this show, hear Nina, from her favourite watering hole in the Fitzrovia Tavern, revealing all in her own notoriously raunchy way.

Running time – 40 minutes
