Mayflower 400

Acrylic painted canvas textile mounted with wood frame together with an A4 explanation sheet

This textile is made up of 400 hand-painted canvas squares each stitched with a hand-painted bead.  The colours used are a deeper hue to those which would have been available at the time of the Pilgrims. These squares and beads individually represent one aspect of the voyage of the Mayflower on its journey to the New World. It is a tactile artwork that children and adults alike will enjoy piecing together the story of that journey.
